Well, I survived three shake days – Go me! And I can honestly say it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. The first night I was hungry after dinner and that was due to a few things. For one, I know my body was adjusting to eating less calories each day. And on top of that, I don’t think I was actually eating enough. Sometimes we get so consumed with a number. My Fitness Pal had me eating 1200 calories a day. Which after talking to numerous people; a nutritionist, my running coach, other friends, was way too for someone who is as active as I am. So on day two, I increased my daily calories to 1500 and have felt fine so far.
So, what does a shake day look like? And what am I putting into my body? Here is a shake day schedule.
- 6:30 – Serving of Ionix Supreme
- 7:30 – Shake + Natural Accelerator
- 9:30 – Snack
- 12:00 – Shake + Natural Accelerator
- 3:00 – Snack
- 6:00 – 400-600 low glycemic clean meal.
- 8:00 – 1-2 Isaflush capsules.
I started the day with a serving of Ionix Supreme. Which to me tastes like wheat grass. Not really a huge fan of it. It’s not terrible, but it does leave an after taste in your mouth. But it’s only 6 oz so I just chugged it and got it over with. (Mix one scoop in 6 oz of water – this comes in powder or liquid – I may try liquid next month and just take it like a shot).
So what is Ionix Supreme and what will it do for me? According to Isagenix, Ionix Supreme is a nutrient-rich tonic that is nature’s answer to stress. It helps buffer the body from the effects of physical, environmental and life stress. It contains essential vitamins, minerals and natural extracts to help support the body’s energy, stamina and health. So why do I need it?
- Improve recovery – natural botanicals help battle the effects of physical stress after an intense workout.
- Focus the mind – Adaptogens help improve mental clarity, so you can stay sharp. (NEED THIS)
- Normalize body’s systems – Strengthen your body’s ability to combat and resist the effects of stress.
- Elevate daily performance – Natural botanicals help support better mental and physical performance.
About an hour after I took the Ionix Supreme I enjoyed a shake and took one capsule of the Natural Accelerator. What is Natural Accelerator?
HOW IT WORKS:
Natural Accelerator uses natural ingredients such as cayenne, green tea, and cocoa seed to support thermogenesis and boost your metabolism so you can burn fat safely and effectively.
Thermogenesis is the body’s production of heat that is related to metabolic rate. Thermogenesis can be “turned up” through the use of certain natural compounds, such as cayenne pepper or green tea, translating into higher energy expenditure, increased fat oxidation, or the burning of calories.
I took one of these capsules twice a day, once in the morning, and again in the afternoon.
Over the three days I tried three different flavors of shakes.
- Creamy French Vanilla
- Strawberry Cream
- Creamy Dutch Chocolate
The Isagenix shakes are a balanced 240-calorie, meal replacement to support healthy weight loss and lean muscle growth with 24 grams of high-quality protein. It also has 23 vitamins and minerals, Protein, energy-fueling carbs, and good fats along with High-fiber content and active enzymes to help aid digestion.
Each shake is made with two scoops of powder mixed with 8oz of liquid. Each time I used 4oz of water but mixed it up each day with the other 4oz being Almond Milk or Coconut Water along with ice cubes. I did use a blender and not a shaker cup as I wanted a creamier thicker shake.
I was actually surprised at how good these actually tasted. Now, by no means will this replace a Chocolate shake from Chick Fil A, but it was creamy, smooth and it didn’t have that gritty like taste I’ve gotten before from other shakes and it completley filled me up until it was time to eat again. I had my shakes for breakfast and lunch.
In between your breakfast and lunch shakes you are able to enjoy two small 100- to 150-calorie snacks. This can be real food! Or it can be a Isalean Bar or any other Isagenix snack product. I mixed it up over the three days.
- Isalean Bar
- Organic Apples and Pears
- Hard Boiled Egg
- Hummus and fresh vegetables
- Cucumber and tomato salad.
Then for dinner you are to have a balanced 400-600 low glycemic meal. What makes this meal balanced is its incorporation of all the essential components—lean protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins and minerals.
First I stated with lean protein. I had lean filet, grilled chipotle chicken lettuce wraps and grilled chicken breast.
Next I added complex carbohydrates each night with 3/4 cup of organic wild rice.
And finally I filled up my plate with vegetables.
In the evening before I went to bed I would take 2 capsules of IsaFlush which helps promotes regularity with natural cleansing herbs.
And those were my shake days. I am now on day 4 and down 2.7 pounds. I am also on the start of a two day cleanse, which will be interesting to say the least.
People keep asking me how I feel. And I feel great actually. I’m not hungry. I’m not tired. I don’t feel sluggish or worn down. So all of these nutrients I am pushing into my body must be working.
It is an adjustment though, I won’t lie. It’s hard to not put something in your mouth as you go about your day. From making the boys lunches in the morning, meeting friends for lunch to snacking all day long. I have to really make a conscience effort to eat QUALITY over QUANTITY. I need to stop focusing on the calorie content in the food, and on the quality of the food and how it will fuel my body. I know this is what will make me successful after these 30 days are over.
Until next time ~
